New in Town

Tonight I headed off to the movies to catch the comedy with Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. I loved it! However, it is important to note that I'm a fan of Renee so I may be slightly bias.

Hubby

Today I got a call from my husband saying that he was not feeling well. I knew that this was odd in itself for he rarely gets sick or even mentions that he is not well and if he does he normally pushes through and keeps working. He ended up going home by midday, but he also called me back and he didn't sound well. This made me even more nervous because he sounded so faint by that point. I ended up leaving work so that I could check on him. By the time I got home he was already in bed. Think he came down with a bad migraine and it just really knocked him off his feet. Tonight he seems to be doing much better, so I am very relieved.

Friend Request

On Monday when I logged into my facebook account, I had a friend request from someone from my childhood days when my family lived in Kenner, Louisiana. I was soooo excited to see this friend request! I had not seen my friend since my family left LA in 1989 to move to AL and I believe the last time we had any type of written communication was sometime in 1998. I am so looking forward to catching up on the past and keeping in touch for the future!!!

Revolutionary Road

Finally kicked off my 2009 movie viewing this weekend. Decided to start with the 2008 drama titled Revolutionary Road, which has the main characters played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Set in the 1950s, the movie deals with a couple who struggles with the ordinariness of their lives and the conflicts of their marriage issues as they desire for a better life. I left the movies slightly confused, so I am wondering if I need to read the book for some clarification.

Natural

Time for change? Today at the salon I decided to remove my pretty blond highlights which I have been maintaining for almost eight years. I have now changed my hair color back to my natural color, which is actually a dirty blond color. Much darker than I have seen in a long time, but not too bad.

Package

Arrived home Tuesday to find a package at our door. Turns out it was Christmas gifts from Kevin, Tracey and Christian!!!!

4th Quarter

Our company reported the 4th quarter earnings and unfortunately we reported a loss :-( I am not looking forward to the impact this will have for the rest of 2009.

Inauguration

At work I tried to access various internet sites so that I could watch live video of the inauguration. Got the company "hand", which informs me I am trying to access a site or video that is restricted, but I did manage to find one where I could view video. Hopefully, I didn't get the "hand" too many times where it would end up on some report!!!

MLK Holiday

Today was a bank holiday, no big plans for us. Slept in and ran some errands. Wanted to take the dogs to the park, but the temperature dropped throughout the day and the wind was chilly too.

Rock of Love

I found out that a high school classmate was on VH1's Rock of Love Bus. I don't follow this show, so I am going to have to see if I can catch any of the re-runs.

Dreaming

Okay, so I am going to get to work on refreshing my knowledge of speaking and reading Spanish just in case the stars align perfectly and we get to take a trip to visit Little Bit while she is attending school at Murcia University which is located in Spain.

Cold Weather

This morning it was 14 degrees outside with a feels like of zero and the high was only around 30 degrees. I believe I read that we had not experienced these kind of temperatures in almost six years. I don't enjoy this kind of weather!

Popcorn, Soda and Movies

I have informed my husband that he needs to increase the popcorn and soda budget, for I have a long list of movies that I want to go see within the next six months!!!

Today at work, myself along with another coworker experienced an inappropriate comment in the workplace from a vendor. I was extremely shocked, but more surprised by the fact that this individual would make such a remark on a floor that holds nothing but HR associates. This was reported and I expect that this vendor will not be back to service our floor or even the company.

January 11 was Michael's birthday and he turned 32. No real big plans this year. He still was working on a paper for school. I did bake him a strawberry cake at his request.

Latin Dance Night

Friday night was Latin Dance Night at Pablos - our favorite Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately with the power being out earlier this week, Michael was behind on his school work so we decided to skip this event. Hopefully we can catch another one and maybe I will have found some dance moves :-)

No Power

On my way home from work, I got a phone call from my husband telling we that we had no power and that the traffic was horrible due to a portion of a road by our house which was closed for the crews to safely work. We did find out from a neighbor that the power had actually been out most of the day. So we fed the dogs and walked them outside via flashlight, lit some candles in the house and sat on our sofa to watch cars drive down our street. Shortly before 7pm we had a message from the power company informing us that a tree had taken out two poles and damaged a water main, thus the crews would work through out the night and they expected the power back on by 6am!!!!! Oh, my. So off we go to Pablos for some dinner to find out that most of the other diners are there for the same reason. What a night?



The power did come back on around 4:30am. So, we will be cleaning out our fridge. Good thing we didn't buy groceries this past weekend.

DVD Release Date

I just read that the Twilight DVD will be released on 3.21.09!!!!!! I can't wait :-)
