Magic City Art Connection

I went down to Lynn Park to see the art event going on this weekend. There was all types of art on display with different price points. I purchased a pair of vintage US Navy button earrings from the same vendor that I had previously purchased a pair of typewriter key earrings from last year. I also saw really neat butterfly art work which was way out of my price range up into the thousand dollar range! The butterflies looked so real, but the display sign noted that no butterflies were harmed in the making of it! I'm guessing that is why it was so pricey, that's a lot time spent on all those details.

Catching Some Sun

Today, I laid out on our deck trying to get some sun on my legs. I took my quilt out and a magazine to read. Of course, I have Jasmine and Auburn on each side of me trying rest on the quilt too! Auburn would come and go, he is a long hair dog, but Jasmine stayed for the duration and loved every minute of it!

Square Foot Gardening

My husband wanted to do a garden this year. After a visit with my dad, Mike, we saw that he was trying the square foot gardening approach. We decided this would be the best method for us given the space we have available. So far banana peppers, carrots, cucumbers, and strawberries have been planted.

Gladiolus - Breaking Ground

My gladiolus have started to come out of the ground. This is the tallest one.

Peony - Ready to Bloom

My peony plant is about ready to bloom!!!!! I am so ready to cut one and bring it inside. I'm thankful that last night's storms did not damage this plant.

Oriental Lilies

Sunday we headed over to Lowes to get a patio set that I have had my eye on and decided to make a purchase once I saw that the price had dropped. Unfortunately, the box is enormous and will not fit in either of our cars! Thus, we are in need of a friend or family member to help us out before the price goes back up. Anyone interested??? Thus, I left the garden center with a $20 Oriental Lilies, which smells wonderful!!! I will have to figure out what kind of decorative pot I want because I plan to keep these on the deck. I may need to get some more of these :-)

Tulips in Bloom

I ended up with a colorful row of tulips this spring and all that were planted bloomed, with the exception of the one that Jasmine trampled!

Founder's Day

Sunday I traveled to Auburn to attend the Gamma Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta's Founder's Day Ceremony. It was held at the Greystone Mansion and was an outside event. It was a beautiful day to be outside. I didn't see any familiar faces back from my days at the university, but I did get to meet a few new people. It was great to hear all the exciting things the girls are doing both on and off campus to represent the chapter and university. I was thankful for the invite and glad I could attend. Looking forward to being able to help the chapter out in future events!

Out to Dinner, Finally

This Friday we went out to the Macaroni Grill for dinner. This is one of my favorite places to eat. There for a while we went every Friday. But with the Scale Back Alabama initiative and then being so busy at work, I have just not been up to going out to eat after work. This week I really needed a break thus had to do something for myself. It was nice to chat with some of the other regulars at the bar along with the staff. It was a great night!

Business Trip

This week I had to take a business trip to visit with one of our facilities in Nashville. I was told before hand that if was not in a good location. I have to admit I was a little stressed over hearing this information. The weather was great for traveling and I made it to the hotel before rush hour traffic began. I stayed at the Doubletree in downtown Nashville (love those cookies they give). Elisabeth, my sister-in-law, was kind enough to drive from Murfreesboro to have dinner with me when she got off of work. After my drive and working on PIQs for about four hours in the hotel room, her visit was a nice treat! The next morning I made it to my destination with no issues. It really didn't look like a bad area at all!

Busy

For the past two months, we have been really busy at work and at the moment does not look like it is going to slow down anytime soon. I'm really going to be looking forward to some kind of vacation!!!

Peony Plant Growing

I'm relieved to see that this is my peony plant growing strong. This weekend I noticed what looked like hundreds of carpenter ants all over the flower buds. In doing some research looks like they will not do any harm to the plant and I do not need to spray either. This has become my favorite flower and makes the house smell wonderful when I bring them inside! I can't wait for my first bloom of the season :-)
