Scale Back Alabama

This year I am participating in the Scale Back Alabama program where you aim to lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks. I'm on a team with two co-workers and my husband. I'm not really planning on some crazy diet plan so I am more focused on eating healthier items, portion control and exercise. I have started on the elliptical for 30 mins twice this week. My knees are killing me!!!

Now on tv . . .

I'm am so excited to see that Twilight is finally on the tv movie channels!!!! Now, I don't have to constantly dig out my DVD. I think since this weekend, I have caught pieces of the movie three different times and I always stop when I run across it as I channel surf. Love it!!!!!!

Keeping Up My Resolution

So far so good! We have been rinsing out our cans and plastic bottles along with saving various newspaper ads that come in the mail. I have totes set up in the basement for each of the recyclable items. Plus, I have learned what plastics 1-7 means due to the fact that the place to drop off can only accept plastics 1-2.

Haiti

I have been keeping up with the various news report about the relief efforts to help those in Haiti impacted by the earthquake. It is amazing to see that some people were able to be pulled from the rubble alive. I just can't imagine being in that situation. I'm glad that we were able to make a donation to the American Red Cross for the Haiti Relief effort.

Newks with Friends

Last Saturday we met up with the Fly family for lunch at Newks. They were in town visiting a friend who had recently delivered a baby. Glad that we were able to get together and chat for a few.

First Movie Seen In 2010 . . .

My husband and I went to see Sherlock Holmes this weekend. It has Robert Downey Jr (Holmes) and Jude Law (Watson) staring in the movie. It was actually really good and neat to see how Holmes solved the mystery in the end of the movie. Looks like they set it up for a sequel potential.

My New Years Resolution

My 2010 New Years Resolution is to do more to recycle. In the past my recycling habit only consisted of returning our plastic bags back to Walmart and Publix. I have been disappointed in that the state I live in does not actively promote or even has a clear program in place. I have recently found an organization, Alabama Environmental Council, located near my employment that accepts various types of products that can be recycled 24/7. So now I am ready to do my part to help the environment!!!!

New Year's Eve

We traveled to Atlanta on New Year's Eve to attend the Chick-Fil-A Bowl game where the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech were to face off at 7:30 pm. This was my first time to attend a bowl game. We stayed over in the Dunwoody area, so we road the Marta to and from the game. This was my first time to ever ride the Marta! We got to the Georgia Dome about two hours early and went inside to find out seats which were five rows from the very top. Scary!!!! In our cup holders were little Chick-Fil-A cows in football attire. Mini pizza and beer for the hubby and nachos and water for me and we were set for the game to start. Didn't start out well for UT for VT scored quickly. But, in the second quarter that was an awesome play by UT and all their fans were up and cheering. Unfortunately, UT did not win the game. After the game, we headed back the Marta station and it was packed with people. We were packed in the train like sardines! I'm not exaggerating either! Reminded me getting on the ferry during Mardi Gras season after a night time parade had ended. Made it back to the hotel and went into the bar to watch the ball and peach drop on the tv.

Happy New Year!!!!!
