Mercedes Kids Marathon
My niece participated in the Mercedes Kids Marathon taking place at Lynn Park in downtown Birmingham. We are so proud of her and really enjoyed being there to cheer her on as she completed that last mile of the program which lasted five months.

Tavern on the Summit
Friday night we headed out to one of our favorite dining locations, Tavern on the Summit, which has an English Tavern atmosphere. It was Valentine's Day weekend and we were well prepared for a lengthy wait, hence part of the reason why we did not leave the house until 8pm. Upon arrival, the person in front of us putting their name on the list was told it was a 45 minute wait. Just as we were about to put our name on the list the owner, who my husband knows from doing business while working for at Fedx-Kinkos, walked up to the front and told us to step to the side. He had us seated in a matter of minutes at one of the reserved tables by the bar. We were sooooo thankful!!! We ordered our usual - Filet Mignon with the Sterling Vintner's red wine. As always our meal and dining experience was excellent!!!! I so wish we could go more often!

Park
Sunday was absolutely a beautiful day to be outside. We decided to take the dogs to one of the nearby parks so they too could enjoy the weather. We walked around the track and stopped for a moment to look at the fish and geese in the water. The dogs had no interest, for they wanted to keep moving. Auburn only barked and carried on at one dog in the very beginning of our walk, of course it was a Newfoundland! We walked around the park for about an hour and I believe both were pretty pooped by the end of our outing!

He's Just Not That Into You
Saturday afternoon I headed off to the movies to see He's Just Not That Into You. This is definitely a chick flick! The movie had several great actors in the movie, i.e Jennifer Anniston, Ben Affleck, Brew Barrymore, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson, and Justin Long. I think I may have to get to book to read in my spare time.

Update: Birmingham not moving deposits from Regions, despite county treasurer's questions

Jefferson County's treasurer has asked the commission to advise her if the county's deposits should be yanked from Regions Bank, whose holding company has been suffering from financial losses, falling share prices and credit downgrades.
But a Regions' spokesman said the bank is safe, and the city of Birmingham said it isn't concerned about its deposits there.
Jennifer Champion, elected treasurer last year to manage the county's $660 million budget, said she today sent a memo to Commission President Bettye Fine Collins and the four commissioners requesting guidance.
The county has 12 accounts with Regions, holding tens of millions of dollars at any one time, Champion said in an interview. She said she wonders about Regions soundness after the company's shares have fallen by more than 90 percent in the past year, and its creditworthiness has been downgraded by Wall Street ratings agencies. "I need to do what I can to protect the taxpayer," Champion said.
Regions spokesman Tim Deighton said the bank is sound and is well capitalized. "Stock price has no bearing on the company's safety and soundness," Deighton said. "In fact, we have very healthy capital ratios, which Moody's Investor Service noted, and those ratios are a very good indicator of a bank's safety and soundness."
The city of Birmingham isn't abandoning Regions. It has $72 million with the bank, and Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford said that money will remain there. "I'm not moving one single dime," he said. "This problem, as unfortunate as it is, is a worldwide problem. Tell me a bank you're going to put it in that hasn't suffered some loses to some degree? This is not the time to be beating up on our local institutions. "
Regions, the area's largest private employer with 6,000 workers, has been hurt by delinquent loans from real-estate borrowers. The company had a fourth-quarter loss of $6.2 billion. Shares Wednesday fell below $2.50 in late-afternoon trading.

Taken
Sunday, my husband and I headed off to the movies to see Taken - the action movie with Liam Neeson. This movie was really good!
